The Faculty Council is a professional body that operates in its wider sense (hereinafter: the Faculty Council in its wider sense) and in its narrow sense (hereinafter: the Faculty Council), which works on a delegate principle.

The Faculty Council consists of teachers and associates full-time employed at the University of East Sarajevo, as well as teachers of clinical subjects from the field of medicine and health services part-time employed at the University and full-time employed in the health institution which is a teaching base of the University/Faculty, who take part in teaching process at study programmes of the Faculty of Medicine, as well as the students representatives of all cycles elected in accordance with the Statute, but their participation in the Council cannot be less than 15% of the total number of the members of the Council.

The Faculty Council in its wider sense makes a proposal for the decision on the selection or dismissal of the Dean of the Faculty and examines the status issues of the Faculty, and all other issues within the jurisdiction of the Teaching-Scientific Council are considered by the Faculty Council.
The Faculty Council consists of representatives of the departments, or two representatives of each of the department, generally in the highest rank, who are appointed by the department, deans and vice deans and representatives of students, except that the representation of students in the Council cannot be less than 15% of the total number of members of the delegate Council.
The decision on appointing the members of the Council, from the session of the department, shall be submitted to the Dean of the Faculty.
The mandate of the Faculty Council lasts for 4 years or until the expiration of the mandate of the Dean of the Faculty, except the student representatives, whose mandate lasts for one academic year.
The Faculty Council in its wider sense and the Faculty Council make decisions within their authority by a majority of the total number of members of the Council, except for decisions on the Faculty appointments.
For decisions on appointment made by the Faculty Council the majority of the total number of teachers members of the Faculty Council is required.
The election of students for the Faculty Council is carried out on the basis of the Internal call announced by the Dean of the Faculty.
The date of elections, number of candidates to be elected and the polling station are determined by the Internal call.
The application for the Internal call is done personally, in written form to the protocol of the Faculty with necessary enclosing of the CV and Certificate on student status. All students of the Faculty of Medicine have the right to vote.
Elections are organized and carried out by the Election committee appointed by the Dean of the Faculty, and it consists of five members (three student representatives and two Faculty representatives).
Election committee is obliged to announce election results within 24 hours after closing the polling station.
Candidates who have received the highest number of votes, the Faculty Council Membership is verified at the first session of the Council after the elections have been carried out.
Mandate of the elected members lasts for one academic year.
The applicants who are not elected have the right to file the complaint on announced results within three days. The complaint is submitted to the Faculty Council, and the decision of the Council on the complaint is final.
Student members of the Faculty Council are delegated / elected among the students elected to the members of the Faculty Council in its wider sense.
